Jens Frank from the Scandinavian Working Dog Institute (SWDI) trains handlers and service dogs, mainly from police and armed forces. He also has a position as Associate Professor at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. He is responsible for and working as a dog handler in, the Swedish governments program for service dogs used in management of large carnivores (bears, wolves and lynx).

“It all started 2008 when I decided to get my own first dog, we had dogs in the family growing up but this was going to be my own. I actually started training dogs at a training club for two years before I found the dog I wanted. I worked as a K9 handler at a security company for about 5 years where we drove on burglary alarms and did security checks at companies and real estates. Later on I found my passion in scent detection and I have done two 1 year courses for a local company in scent detection and I have also done the 1 year course in scent detection for SWDI. At this moment I’m doing the Master Trainer Course for SWDI which I really enjoy! I’m the founder and owner of Sweden K9 Dog Training where we do courses and are about to start up a K9 group for operational work. I’m really honored to be apart of this board of advisors.”

Corinde has been training animals from as early as childhood. Through the KNPV dog sport program she came into contact with the Detection Dogs Training Institute of the Dutch Police called the SSD (Tracking&Trailing dogs and Specialist Animals) and started working there, first training dogs to be operational Police K9's within various disciplines of Scent Detection, Identification Line-ups and Tracking. At the same time as an Instructor for new police K9 Handlers within these disciplines as well as in Explosives- and Narcotics Detection. Corinde has also helped to develope various detection projects. Since 2006 she has worked with all types of specialist Scent Detection Dogs and their handlers. In her work as an police K9 instructor, Corinde seeks the connection between 'training' and the 'operational' side of the profession. This we also know as Scenario Based Training.

Patrick Petersen works as a professional patroldog instructor for the Dutch National Police. He started his dog training career in 1999 within the KNPV. From that point on he became a professional k9 patroldog handler with the Dutch National Police in 2001. In that period he also was cetified as a national decoy for patroldogs for the police. In 2008 he switched his career in becoming a full-time instructor for the patroldogs. Being passionate about training dogs and handlers, he started giving annual seminars in Michigan (USA) and has been a guest instructor for the Joint Operation Unit Dog Section for the police of Birmingham (England). Patrick has trained numerous pups to become patroldogs for national and international law enforcement departements and is one of the initiators for the young dog program for the police. He participated in a puppy development training for a year under the guidance of Dick Staal. Because he wanted to know more about the theory behind dog training he started to take courses such as basic knpv dressage, masterclass coach knpv and succesfully got certified this year as a cinological instructor. Besides that he is a guest teacher at animal trainers academy by Toinnie Lukken. Patrick stopped with the knpv because he has his own way of puppy development and patroldog training in which he likes to think and work outside the box. He strongly believes that there is a big difference between sport and a operational workingdog. In the recent years Patrick became interested in detection work and how he can incorporate this within the search work for patroldogs so he started to reach out to K9 Nose and to the method of the SWDI by Jens Frank. In 2021 Patrick started his own company called Workingdogconsultancy.com in which he offers trainings and lectures especially for countries domestic and abroad such as the USA, England and Jordan. Workingdogconsultancy.com offers seminars for the operational working dog which contains bitework, theoretical instructions, high stress scenario’s, decoy work and tactics. Patrick is always curious about what is happening in the dogworld and wants to expand his knowledge by trying to make brigdges between different people in the workfield. Patrick’s main objective is to help people to understand how a workingdog works and thinks by using modern day learning principles and emphasize that both handler and dog needs to be trained as a combination. Patrick loves to travel around the world and meet and train with different professionals in regard to workingdogs.

Animals are a big part of my life. Already 26 years I am a vet-tech at vet-clinic Winsum. In 2008 I had the honor to become Dutch vet-tech of the Year. Besides my almost fulltime job at the vet- clinic, together with my boyfriend we are already 9 years in the Dutch team Carriage driving for single horses. The beautiful thing is that I can use the knowledge which I get from my job and implement it in our sport. The health of the horse fundamental to the sport. (And that goes for every animal you use and train.) We have enjoyed 5 world championships and were blessed with a gold medal with the National team and we are individual world champion in the cones. I do not know how it is possible that I have time left, BUT I also run my own company; Improve On the Move. Because I love to train and educate people, I travel all over the world and the beautiful thing is, it gives so many opportunities to teach myself a lot of new skills from amazing interesting people. In the USA I learned about Fear Free working and that is now a big part of my life. It gives animals and humans the chance to have more fun and less stress together. https://www.improveonthemove.nl/
